Match report Another eventful Sunday started badly as Captain Fordy got a puncture just outside Hazelbury Bryan on route to Cheselbourne. Nine of us were unable to get the caps on the wheel nuts, so we had to abandon the car, do shuttle runs to the ground to find we had lost the toss and were fielding. Cheselbourne kindly waited for everyone to get there before they started batting. One or two bowlers may have wished they were still stranded as Cheselbourne racked up 246-3, with Richie Brown perilously close to a melt down throughout most of the innings. And Float pulled a groin muscle. Anyway, in reply George and Charlie got us off to a good start, then Leggy Senior and Charlie put on 80 for the 2nd wicket before Charlie fell for 44. Leggy Senior kept the run chase going while wickets fell, but was joined by Fordy who got 34 in a stand of 67 to keep us in the hunt. Leggy eventually fell for an excellent 102, while Float (with a runner) and Browner tried to get the last 29 off 3 overs. In an entertaining final effort we finished only 10 short at 236-9. Back to the Fox at Anstey, where Fordy and his car were last seen waiting for the AA to undo the wheel nuts. Hopefully they will be back before next week!
