Stalbridge Cricket Club News story

to all SCC members

16 Sep 2016

The Club is now one of, if not the, biggest in Dorset outside of the Poole/Bournemouth/Wimborne conurbation, and with 4 senior and 8 junior teams this last summer is certainly in a healthy state compared to many.

However, the Club does face a number of issues that mean we are in some ways at a crossroads. We are increasingly struggling for volunteers willing to take on roles outside of playing, and the varied tasks involved in running a viable club are more than ever falling disproportionately on the shoulders of a shrinking band of individuals who are becoming seriously overstretched and, consequently, disillusioned. Numbers of members attending Club events have also been falling, whether at fundraising events, awards celebrations or work-parties. There have also been comments from players that the social element of the Club, in terms socialising after or away from games, is not what it was. These are all linked, and it requires input from ALL MEMBERS to reverse these trends if we want the club to thrive going forward for the enjoyment of all of us and future generations.

We would like to address these issues at the AGM but it is VITAL that as many members attend as possible to voice their views. While not everybody will be suited to or have the time for an 'official' position in the Club, we would urge all members to appreciate that they have a role to play in supporting their Club, making it as enjoyable as possible to play for and sustaining it as strong and viable for the future. Attending the AGM to take part in discussions on the future of the Club is a part of this.

If you care about Stalbridge CC, whether as a player, former player, parent, coach or supporter, please take a moment to think about how you would like the club to carry on, and how you can contribute to this. PLEASE ATTEND THE AGM if you are able.

The Annual General Meeting of Stalbridge Cricket Club will take place on MONDAY 26th SEPTEMBER, at 8.00pm in William's Café at Dike & Son's store.

The meeting is open to all SCC members. Please make every effort to attend!

Thanks,

SCC Committee
