Please see below a few key pre-season dates for your diary, as we approach the 2021 cricket season!
SUNDAY APRIL 11th: Pre-season Groundwork Session – 10.00am -12.00 The Park: Key tasks for getting the ground ready for the season will include erecting the nets, repairing the scorebox, mowing/rolling the square, setting up the covers. ***VOLUNTEERS NEEDED PLEASE***. Covid-19 procedures will be in place for the session, and ‘teams’ of 6 will be assigned to the various tasks. Please come along and help if you can, it is vital we get these jobs done for the start of the season!
WEDNESDAY APRIL 14th: First training session for U11s (Yr 5 & 6), Lionesses (girls Yrs 5-8) & U13s (Yrs 7 & 8 – 6.30pm – 8.00pm. Full details for junior registration to follow shortly.
THURSDAY APRIL 15th: First training session for SENIORS & U15s (Yrs 9 & 10) – 6.30pm – 8.00pm. Full details for player registration to follow shortly.
FRIDAY APRIL 16th: First training session for U9s (Yrs 3 & 4) & Women & Girls Conkerers Squad – 6.30pm – 8.00pm. Full details for player registration to follow shortly.
SATURDAY APRIL 17th: 1st XI Pre-season friendly v Yeovil CC (a) 1.00pm start. Please mark your availability on the SCC website.
SUNDAY APRIL 18th: Development XI Pre-season friendly v Shaftesbury CC (h) 1.30pm start. Please mark your availability on the SCC website.
SATURDAY APRIL 24th: 1st XI Pre-season friendly v Kilmington & Stourton CC (h) start tbc. Please mark your availability on the SCC website.
SATURDAY MAY 1st: First Dorset League matches for 1st XI & Dev XI. All matches will be 40 overs, 1.30pm start. Fixtures are on SCC website. Please mark your availability.
FRIDAY MAY 7th: First ECB All-Stars session for 5-8 year olds at The Park.
As last summer, the season will proceed with Covid-19 precautionary measures in place and the Club will adhere to ECB and relevant government guidance. Details will be circulated.
We are desperately in need of volunteers willing to assist with some pre-season rolling of the square and also to help with pitch mowing through the season. Even if you are willing to help on the odd occasion, say once or twice in the whole summer for max 1 hour (it takes about 40 minutes to mow the square), please let Hayden (07581461319, haydenwilliams31@googlemail.com) or Colin (07731634206, colin@stalbridgecc.co.uk) know.
Finally, we look forward to seeing plenty of volunteers helping out on April 11th and to enjoying some good cricket this summer after a pretty grim winter for everybody.
