Stalbridge Cricket Club News story

PRE SEASON newsletter........... from the Chairman

26 Feb 2013

Just to notify you of some news and upcoming events as we start to look forward to a new season. Please support YOUR Club wherever you can. In particular I would urge you to support the Club’s fundraising efforts, which are vital if we are to continue running a progressive Club.

  • NEW SCC WEBSITE!

Thanks largely to the hard work of Phil Calcott and Smiley, we now have a new-look website!

The new site is much more interactive than the old site allowing for extra functions such as event notification and team selection. To get the best out of the site it is important that members are registered, so please go to the website as soon as possible and register by following the on-screen instructions. To cut down on admin workload, we aim to use the site as much as possible to keep people informed of Club activities, so get registered now!!

  • SHOP ONLINE AND RAISE FREE FUNDS FOR SCC!

The Club is now registered with Easyfundraising.org.uk, so that members and supporters can raise money for the Club simply by linking through our website to popular online retailers, such as Amazon, ebay, Argos and M&S.

Over 3000 retailers will donate up to 15% of the cost of your shopping to the Club and it won't cost you a penny more to shop via easyfundraising.org.uk than by logging on direct to the retailer site.

Simply by making this one small change to your shopping habits, you could make a big difference to Stalbridge Cricket Club! See the website for more details or if you have any questions or feedback please contact John Arter (arter_jr@yahoo.co.uk) or Phil Calcott (phil.c@tinyworld.co.uk).

  • QUIZ NIGHT              Sunday  MARCH 10th  Stalbridge Royal British Legion

8.00 pm start, £1.50 per head, team of 4/5

(please bring a raffle prize!)

  • FUNDRAISING SWIMARATHON
We are again entering teams in the BV Lions Club charity swimarathon to raise money for the Club and for a number of local charities. The event takes place on Sunday 24th March (time to be confirmed) at Clayesmore Sports Centre. Each swimmer in a team of 6 will only swim 1 in every 6 lengths done by the team, in relay for an hour – it’s really not that difficult, even for the less strong swimmers!

Please support the Club by swimming if you are able, or by sponsoring a swimmer. Last year SCC raised £645 in this event, so let’s see if we can do better this time – it all helps to keep your subs and match fees down!!

  • PRE-SEASON ‘CRICKETFORCE’ WORKPARTY  – Sunday APRIL 7th

Join in to help your Club get ready for the season so you can enjoy your cricket in 2013. Starting at 10.00am in the Park, we need as many volunteers as possible to get all the necessary jobs done, such as putting up the nets and preparing the pitch for the season. PLEASE get involved – the more people that help out the less time it will take for us all!

That’s about all the news for the moment. We hope you’ll get involved in the above events as we approach the 2013 season!
