SCC Junior Cricket 2015

Dear Parent / Young Cricketer

Junior cricket coaching and practice sessions for the 2015 season soon begin again in The Park, and will start (weather permitting!) on the following dates:

Under-9s (yrR* – yr4) Friday 24th April 6.15pm – 7.45pm and every FRIDAY
Under-11s (yrs 5,6) Tuesday 14th April 6.15pm – 8.00pm and every Tuesday
Under-13s (yrs 7,8) Wednesday 15th April 6.15pm – 8.00pm then every Thursday
Under-15s (yrs 9,10) Friday 24th April 6.15pm – 8.00pm and every Friday

(* we regret that we are unable to take members before they are at Primary School)

Even if the weather is poor, we can still use the first outdoor sessions to sort out membership and registration. However, don’t worry if you cannot come to the first sessions, everybody is welcome to join in at any stage, and even if the sessions are not at a convenient time for your family, please let us know as you can still be involved in the Club.

A 2015 membership form is attached. If you would like to join the Club this season, please complete your form and return it to one of the Club’s Junior Coaches/Managers at the sessions in the Park, along with your membership fee. This fee is payable by May 15th and will cover all outdoor supervised coaching and practice sessions for 2015. The membership subscription for the under-11, under-13 and under-15 age groups will be £12.00 including a free practice ball to keep for use during Club sessions. For the under-9s and below the membership subscription will be £8.00.

Teams for the Under-9s, -11s, -13s and -15s begin their North Dorset Cricket Association league matches from April also, and full SCC fixture cards will be available shortly (in the meantime, full fixture lists are on the club website www.stalbridgecc.co.uk). This year, based on our assessment of the probable numbers of players in each age group, we will be running two under-9 teams, two under-11 teams, one under-13 team and one under-15 team.

Team managers for 2015 are shown below. The Club has eight Level 1 or UKCC1 qualified ECB Coaches, three UKCC2 Coaches and one ECB Club Level Coach, and all of our junior coaches/managers have undertaken Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) checks as to their suitability to work with young people.

Clubmark Accreditation
Stalbridge CC is an ECB Clubmark Accredited cricket club, meaning that SCC has been judged by the ECB to operate its junior section according to important core standards. This includes providing a good quality cricket programme for young people in line with ‘Safe Hands’, the ECB’s Welfare of Young People in Cricket Policy. It also means that the Club has adopted written policies on issues such as child protection, equity, accidents & incidents, and codes of conduct for players, coaches, volunteers, club officials and parents – some of which we are required to distribute with membership details! This accreditation is important for the Club and its members – it is about doing what we do in the correct way, but it also enables the Club increased access to funding opportunities from the ECB.

Club Kit
Stalbridge Cricket Club playing shirts, caps, leisure and training wear are available to junior members, and are similar to those worn by the senior teams. This is available in junior sizes and can be bought online at the Club’s website www.stalbridgecc.co.uk. The Club itself does not hold stocks of kit – it can only be bought through the website. Please note, Club kit is not compulsory.

SCC Website, Facebook & Twitter
Don’t forget you can keep up to date via the website, at www.stalbridgecc.co.uk

All Club teams are selected and notified of fixtures via the website. It is important that all members are registered on the site, and that you have your up-to-date email address on your registration. Please register by visiting the website and following the on-screen instructions (click on ‘register’ in the left-hand menu bar).

You can also follow the Club on Twitter and on Facebook.

SCC Lottery Bonus Ball
This is a vital source of fundraising for the Club. For those who may not know, you can play by paying £1 per week for a number between 1 & 49. Each week, the person holding the number matching that which is drawn out as the Bonus Ball in the National Lottery wins £25.00, with the rest of the money raised going to the Club. It’s a good way to support the Club, with the chance of also winning a few quid back!

There are currently a few spare numbers, so if you are able to buy a number or know somebody who is, contact Colin at colin@stalbridgecc.co.uk. (The minimum period for taking part is 6 months @ £26)
