Match report The Pirates this week fielded a very inexperienced team and almost pulled a victory out of the bag against a Shaftesbury team consisting of several Yr6 players. As last week, the Pirates showed good discipline when batting and improved running between the wickets to compile a score of 257-2. They then bowled very tightly, only to see the Panthers overtake their score in the last couple of overs as their main batter hit a couple of boundaries. Even then, Will Guppy, Billy Daniels and Joe Gartell bowled really well at the death and with a little more luck could have picked up the wickets that would have sealed a victory. It was not to be though..... The team should be proud of the way they are improving, especially as the match saw three players making their debuts. Star-of-the-week for an excellent debut with bat and ball was Will Guppy.
