Match report The Pirates chalked up their second win of the season with a good all-round performance at Milton Abbas. Batting first the team defended their wickets well and allowed the runs to accumulate as the Milton bowlers struggled with their accuracy. Runs from the bat were not easy on a bouncy artificial and slow outfield, but Mr Wide was a regular scorer. Billy Daniels and Will Coleman were joint top scorers with 7 apiece, in a partnership of 33, as the team only lost two wickets to finish on 273-2. We then bowled our tidiest innings of the season, with our fewest wides so far, which kept the Milton scoring rate under control. Will Coleman and James Stockley both were very miserly in conceding only 3 runs between them from their 5 overs, and Sam Hopkins continues to improve at wicket-keeper. The main wicket takers though were Will Guppy (2 for 11) and our under-9 superstar Billy Daniels, who took 4 wickets for 3 runs in 3 overs. Will and Billy's bowling saw Milton crash to 213-6 at the end of their overs. Though everybody played well and contributed to a fine team victory, Billy Daniels was deservedly Star-of-the-Week.
