Match report Derby day, and another fine evening at the Park. With slightly mixed up teams to make a competitive game the result was decided more on wickets lost rather than runs scored!!
The Pirates batted first and were restricted by some very decent bowling, straight and full. this meant that runs were hard to come by but also the wickets fell steadily throughout the innings. Kit Garnon(9 n.o) top scored, with Will Coleman(7)and Will Collins(3 n.o). All The Outlaws' bowlers performed well, notably Sam Pipe(3-0), Billy Daniels(2-9) with the other 5 wickets shared around 5 others.
The Outlaws reply got off to a shaky start, losing 3 wickets in the first pair but after that the runs dripped in but more importantly, with The Pirates also putting in a fine display with the ball, only losing 1 more wicket. Matt Longley(7n.o) and James Stockley(7n.o) top scored, closely followed by Cameron Woodhouse(6n.o) and Tom Harvey(4) who both hit great shots for 4 runs.
The Pirates bowling was straight but The Outlaws always managed to get something in the way. Will Collins(3-2) was the pick of the bowlers with Marcus Mullins(1-7) picking up the other wicket.
Stars of the week were Cameron Woodhouse for The Outlaws with a really good all-round performance and Will Collins for The Pirates with devastating accuracy with the ball.
Well done everyone involved, it was a really good game of cricket!
