Match report One of our toughest fixtures on paper, and so it proved. Missing 5 regulars made a difference but the lads who played put in a lot of effort and played really well to continue The Outlaws unbeaten run.
Losing the toss and being put in, Stalbridge posted a total of 258-3 against a side of good quality and quite clearly up for a battle. Will Collins (14) top scored with Matt Crosby (11) striking the ball well, supported well by all others and the fact we only lost 3 wickets could be key to the game.
So our bowlers went into action, and they all stepped up bowling only 4 wides and 2 no balls, we were restricting Shaftesbury well, Will Collins (2-9) and all others keeping the run rate low. But a few kamikaze runs and unnecessary overthrows brought the game to a thrilling climax. Going in to the penultimate over Shaftesbury needed 21 to win and it was quite clear they were going to go for it. So up step débutante and U9 Harrison-James Sweatland (2-12) whose 2 wickets in that over swung the game back in Stalbridge's favour. And so Shaftesbury finished on 243-4, much to my relief!!
Man of the Match was Harrison, whose second over at a key point in the game, in my opinion, won the game for the Outlaws.
