Match report A tough final over loss for the Pirates, but it was a good game and after several cancelled matches it was good to play, even if the weather was a bit lousy towards the end.
Blandford batted first, and despite some decent Pirates bowling all round, they managed to score fairly consistently to notch up a competitive 267-5. The wickets were evenly spread, with Joe, Harrison, Harry, Ben and Dan all taking one apiece.
Our innings started reasonably well with Harrison and Dan taking us to 222-0. Thereafter however, it was a case of two steps forward and one step back as our scoring kept being pegged back by wickets. Eventually, Joe and Matt steered the team to the brink of victory before a wicket in the last over (from a very good ball!) just turned the result in Blandford's favour.
It was a good game that could have gone either way, but all the lads played their part and will have benefitted from having a match under their belts.
