Match report This was always likely to be a tough match, against a team that are unbeaten, and with a couple of our key experienced players missing, we fielded a team that was all Yr5s except one, while the opposition were all Yr6s. Nonetheless the boys put in one of their best performances of the season.

Batting first we made a steady start, against very accurate bowling. While runs were hard to come by, all the lads batted sensibly and with composure, protecting their wickets well. Partnerships between Will G and Harry W, then Harrison and Billy D yielded runs towards the end of the innings, taking us to 224-2 - not a big total but a decent effort against strong bowling.

In reply, a strong Shaftesbury batting line-up found our bowling just as accurate, with every bowler serving up a consistent line and length. George Perkins did a fine job as stand in wicket keeper, while Will Guppy and Harry Watson both held good catches. Max Hayward, Harry Watson, Harrison Sweatland and Ben Pattle all bowled tidy spells, and Billy Daniels, Will Guppy and Harry Bath each took a wicket. On the last ball of the innings, though by this stage the game was lost, Billy Daniels rounded off a good team performance with a direct hit run-out to see Shaftesbury finish on 244-4.

So, a loss, but one from which the team emerges with much credit.
