Match report A delightful evening played at Cerne Valley's beautiful ground was equalled by an excellent game of cricket played, in good spirits, between two really good sides!
Seb won the toss and put Cerne in, which led to what could be described as probably the Blues worst display with the ball and in the field. This said, they managed to take six wickets, which included 5 good catches and a run out with Cerne pushing hard! The wicket takers were Jasper (4-0-20-2), Ollie (2-0-19-1) and a captain's display of miserly bowling from Seb (4-2-2-2). A special mention also to ex Stalbridge player Matt Longley (21 n.o) whose late display of powerful hitting pushed the total to a decent, but not unbeatable 120-6.
In reply, Stalbridge got off to a shaky start, with edges and very good opening bowling. Once they had seen off the opening bowlers Jasper (31 n.o) and Joe A (31 n.o) were able to free their arms and score quickly. Once the openers had retired it brought Luke (32 n.o) to the crease and after a bit of luck he too got his eye in and kept the scoreboard above the required run rate. The loss of 2 wickets didn't slow the scoring down, and between Luke and Ollie (14 n.o) The Blues finished the game in the 18th over, with the score on 122-2.
Congratulations boys, a very deserved win and another date with Parley in the Final!!
