Match report After the match was abandoned on Friday thew weather looked as if it was going to get in the way of the re-match, with it raining quite heavily in Stalbridge at 17:00. Thankfully Shillingstone seems to have a different climate and the rain never appeared there!
Parley won the toss and chose to bat, and Stalbridge openers Jasper and Lewis got the game off to a great start, restricting Parley to just 7 runs off the first 4 overs and dismissing one of the opening batsmen. At the first change of bowling, Stalbridge went straight to spin, with Ollie and William keeping the pressure on and the second wicket was taken with a smart stumping from Harry. Parley's batsmen then dominated for a few overs until captain, Seb, brought himself into the action and there was a flurry of wickets and the retirement of their opening batsman which kept the score down and even with the inevitable late swing Parley finished on 85-7 from 20 overs. The key to the low score was the concession of only 5 wides, 2 no-balls and 2 byes and can only be described as a fantastic effort by all in the field.
In reply, Stalbridge got off to a steady start. Some powerful hitting, loose bowling and 2 dropped catches help us keep our wickets intact until the 10th over. With the scoreboard on 44, Joe A (9) push one straight back to the bowler and then we lost Harry (3) in the next over, it was starting to get tense. This, however, brought Will P (22 n.o) to the crease, and although his excitement got the better of him, running out Jasper (28), he and Ollie (9 n.o) produced a fine display of tip and run cricket to see the game out with Will P scoring the winning runs for the second year in a row!!
Congratulations to all the Lads who played, it was truly a brilliant team performance.
