Stalbridge Cricket Club 1st XI v Wimborne & Colehill on Sat 08 Jul 2017 at 1.00pm
Stalbridge Cricket Club Won By 1 wicket
Match report
Wimborne & Colehill won the toss and decided to bat. Stalbridge bowled well early on & Forsh struck in the 6th over, the scoring rate was contained by excellent bowling and despite a last wicket stand of 31 Wimborne & Colehill were bowled out in the 48th over for 154, Forsh 10-3-35-4, Dikey 10-1-38-3 & Leggy 10-6-5-2. The club stato Hayden "Waz" Williams has frantically been digging through the club archives to find out if this was the most economical spell of bowling in a first team game & come to the conclusion it is! Well bowled Leggy! In reply Junior Sweaty and Jimmer put on 27 for the opening stand with Sweaty falling for 2, Jimmer batted excellently with his new piece of wood making a run a ball 35, before attempting a cut and being bowled in the 10th over. Wickets fell in the middle order before Forsh (35) and Dikey (10) shared a 45 run partnership for the 6th wicket. Steve fell with 30 still required, Leggy hit 4 before being caught behind which brought the captain to the crease with 7 still needed. H managed to inside edge one off a solid forward defensive to the vacant mid wicket area which left Jon to "guide" the last ball of the over to 3rd man for 4, this left H on strike for the next over and as predicted by Forsh and Senior Sweaty a solid hit to mid off and run levelled the score. There was still drama with Jon being dropped at gully with the scores tied before the game was won with a wide. Jon guided the tail superbly ending on 22 not out and the captain finished on 2 not out, an excellent win with 18 points and a match played in great spirit throughout - so thank you to our opponents & the umpires.
