Match report
In advance of this fixture there was some real fighting talk from the Weymouth skipper. They planned to attack from the off according the Dorset echo.
Little did they realise they were playing a Stalbridge seconds side that drastically changes every week and consisted of 4 u15’s and our chief scorer Richie Brown.
Weymouth won the toss and elected to bat. Fordy and Wagget bowled some great swing early doors in a strong wind. A couple of early wickets fell to Wagget who made one superb caught and bowled effort. The bridge with another mixed side on the day gave Cam a chance to bowl a spell. 4 wickets later he was running around the Weymouth ground in jubilation. His brother Doug also took a fine catch as WK.
On a day when Goose and Ben Pattle became really good mates the weather held, on what was a great batting wicket. The Ball actually bounced off the track. Fordy with a couple of cracking catches in mid wicket.
It was the the Bridges turn to wield the willow. F&F the deadly duo opened up again. Float with 33 runs and Fordy with 17
The rest of the batting order struggled to add many runs to the board. Super Ben Pattle and RB took us over the 100 mark to steal a batting point at the end of play.
The highlight of the day was the lovely showers at Weymouth. Goose spent a good half hour in there with Float.
May has been a difficult month. Getting a team together has been a big challenge let alone a regular and winning one. I don’t think I’ll be picking up the manager of the month award.
We now start a fresh. Into June we go with players returning and some different opposition. We are staying up, we are staying up!
