Stalbridge Cricket Club Development XI v Cranborne on Sat 25 Aug 2018 at 1.30pm
Stalbridge Cricket Club Won By 6 Wickets
Match report
WE DID IT... WELL DONE BOYS FOR GETTING THE WIN YOU DESERVED ...
Thank you to everyone who has played cricket for Stalbridge seconds this season.
What a challenge it has been playing in a tough division 2 against generally senior experienced players.
It’s been a special season despite the losses. Everyone has chipped in and given 100% on the field.
Against Cranborne everything clicked. We bowled well, fielded bravely and batted until the end.
Wickets for Fordy, Cam, Wiz and Matt C meant we bowled them all out for the first time this season. Waggy and Max also applied pressure early doors. Skipper covered some miles to take a catch off Fordy’s bowling before booting the ball over the boundary in happiness. I got away with it ...
Cranborne finished on 253. Did anyone really believe we would chase that ???? Well we did.. Fordy and Colin (40) opened up with the left right combination. They quickly dispatched the openers and put a great base on the board. Eddie, Waggy and Kev then joined the party. Waggy putting on a quick 19.
Then Max Nettley who admits he’s settling into the batting rhythm again found it at the right time. Fordy and Max perfectly applied game management and took the game to the last over. SCC needed 3 off the last over. Max bashed one for 4 to win the game.
It was a special day for a number of reasons. Neil Ford deserves a special mention for his 137* to win us the game. He’s been inspirational this season with bat and ball.
The 2s will play in Div 3 next season and I can see us being very competitive most weeks.
The start of something special.
