Match report First game of the season for the 2's saw a spirited performance against a good side and senior debuts for Archie Harris and Ed Pattle. Put into bat by the opposition captain things were progressing nicely at 44/1 after the 13th over, with an excellent 35-run partnership between Tom Hatcher (19) and Toby Jeans (20) providing a good foundation. Unfortunately, the 2's lack of depth was exposed after Tom was removed by an incredible diving catch in the slips. Although batting time well, the scoring rate slowed to a crawl and the 2's were dismissed for a miserly 65.
Despite the lack of runs on the board Stalbridge made an excellent go of defending the total. The skipper (1-17) and Ben Pattle (2-18) leading the way in restricting the scoring and taking early wickets. An excellent two overs from Ed Pattle also saw a vital fourth wicket and second point for the side, as the 2's took the game into the 20th over.
All in all it was a really good effort from the team and an encouraging performance in the field. With some runs on the board, wins are around the corner!
