Match report Another day, another defeat, but massive progress from another young 2's side today! 5pts represents a record haul so far this season.
After electing to field first Stalbridge made a lightening start to proceedings, with B. Pattle (2-41) and the skipper (2-41) reducing Dorchester to 14/4 after just five overs. Things continued to progress nicely with tight bowling restricting Dorchester to 112/5 at the halfway mark, unfortunately after that things began to get away from Stalbridge. A staggering eight dropped catches allowed the Dorchester opener to press onto a century and we were left chasing a mighty 247. A shout-out must go to Toby Jeans who only allowed 5 byes through and took 3 catches.
With the bat things began steadily with Stalbridge putting on 20 for the first wicket. A mini-collapse then unsettled things, leaving the 2's floundering at 51/5 at drinks. However, things got going again for Stalbridge after the break with C. Mckinnon (30) and R. Brown (2*) putting together a vital partnership of 34 for the 9th wicket and driving the team past two batting point markers, allowing the team to amass 104/9, batting out every ball of the game for the first time this season.
A really good effort from everyone involved today has kept Stalbridge in the mix with Kingston Lacy and Wareham in a three way fight for safety in Division 3. The team have a break week now and hope to come back stronger on June 8th!
