Match report A huge win for the Bridge in the first game of the season! Signs were ominous with some last minute changes before the game began and a loss of the toss, but that is where the bad signs ended for Stalbridge. With the opposition opting to bat, Stalbridge got straight to work ripping through the top order with outstanding opening spells from Rob Payne (2-11) and Ben Pattle (2-3) reducing Poole to 16/4. The middle order did little more to resist, with Cam McKinnon (2-3 also), Ed Pattle (1-11) and an excellent runout seeing Poole reduced to 25/7. Some inevitable lower order slogging produced the only spell of real difficulty in the game, with a 22 run stand put on in just a few overs, but when this was broken by Freddie Fowles (2-12) the Poole resistance quickly came to an end, leaving just 48 to chase.
Opening the batting Fergus W-S (20*) and Ed Pattle (16) got Stalbridge off to a steady start before Ed fell with the score on 26. Another good partnership between Fergus and George Kerr-Jones (4) saw Stalbridge within 8 of victory. Inevitably, Toby Jeans (9*) finished things off with some crunch middle-order hitting, including a one-bounce four down the ground for the winning runs.

A great result for the team, we look forward to welcoming Parley next week and keeping the momentum going.
