Match report Having won the toss and opted to bowl in the wet with a dry forecast ahead, the Dev XI made the worst possible start, putting down M. Crabb (87) and struggling to find their lengths, allowing Puddletown to accrue 77 runs in the opening ten. From there, though, Stalbridge's fielding effort was absolutely superb. Tidy spells from H. Forshaw (8-0-21-2) and O. White (8-0-46-0, and unfortunate to have two drops off his bowling) really tied Puddle down and made a crucial breakthrough. The pressure was kept on by H. Lewis (8-0-34-0) and I. Lomas-Walker (4-1-16-1), allowing J. Guthrie (8-0-47-3) to clean up the lower middle order and secure some bonus points. After the disappointment of the first ten, restricting Puddletown to 225 was a tremendous effort.
Things got off to a good start with the bat, with some quick scoring from T. Lomas-Walker (15) and C. Mckinnon (21). Wickets at regular intervals made it difficult for Stalbridge to put a coherent chase together. I. Lomas-Walker (16), T. Jeans (35) and H. Forshaw (21) all put good scores on to help push Stalbridge through the batting points.
There were two notable debuts in the match too, with G. Townsend and I. Mckinnon both making their first senior appearances. Both played excellently, and a generally young team competed really well against a strong Puddletown side.
