Match report On a warm and sunny afternoon, Blandford won the toss and chose to bat on what looked to be a decent wicket. However, they were soon in disarray at 4-4 in only the third over, as Stu opened with a double wicket maiden: Dom Coleman on debut behind the stumps took the first one, and Jimmer, at first slip, caught the dangerous Luke Carter for a first ball duck off of the very next ball. A fine catch from Warney, diving away to his right and scooping the ball just above the turf one-handed, gave Steve a wicket in his first over, and Stu then clean bowled the number 4 in his next over. An incredible start having lost the toss, but we knew a partnership or two would come at some point. Stu took a fourth wicket in the ninth over, Ben Pattle taking the catch at point. The sixth wicket partnership of 36 was the highest of the innings, with number 5 C. Watts top-scoring with 45 before being dismissed LBW by Dikey in his first over. Ed Pattle bowled well without any luck, and there were also wickets for Si and H, before Stu returned to complete his 5-wicket haul, as the number 11 clothed a full toss to Dikey at mid-on. Blandford 128 all out; a score we would've settled for having lost the toss but possibly 20-30 too many if being very critical of ourselves.

Although our innings did not start in such a dramatic way as Blandford's, we were in trouble early on too, as Will Coleman was bowled for 1 and Stu was caught behind, leaving us 12-2 in the third over. Things only got worse as numbers 4, 5 and 6 all fell for ducks: Jimmer was well caught at backward point, Ben was bowled and Si was caught behind. Warney, who had tried to dig in but was receiving no support at all, was then bowled behind his legs for 16, and we were in a sorry state at 31-6 in only the 11th over. Ed Pattle applied himself well for his 10, batting alongside Dikey in a partnership of 23 for the 7th wicket. Another 10, this time from Steve, including possibly the shot of the innings, a cover-driven 4, and 7 from Howie, kept us ticking over. Dom Coleman looked very solid and helped Dikey add 16 for the last wicket, and suddenly a win was not entirely out of the question with overs never going to be an issue. Sadly, the Blandford umpire clearly agreed that this was the case as well, as he gave a pretty poor (to say the least) LBW decision against Dikey to end the innings on 92. Dikey had applied himself superbly for his 26 and only a couple more batters doing the same would've surely meant we won the game. This was unfortunately not the case and what had started as a very positive game for us, ended in a bitterly disappointing defeat.
