Match report An outstanding performance by the Devs finally saw them get a game over the line after near-misses every weeks so far.

Having been put in by Puddle on a true but grassy pitch, scoring was slow early on as the Devs reached only 29 at the ten. Despite the loss of three wickets before drinks, a steady partnership began to form between M. Coleman (66) and J. Lewis (69*), who pushed on with increasing rapidity to take the score to 161 when Matt fell in the 33rd. This brought R. Payne (30*) to the crease, who blasted a rapid thirty, and along with Josh took the score north of the double-ton (and getting us all the batting points) and up to 220.

With the ball (despite Robbie channelling his Steve Harmison and bowling a woeful first ball of the innings!) things were never in doubt as wickets tumbled at regular intervals in Puddle's pursuit of a large total. Particular highlights were H. Forshaw (2-9), as usual, and younger members of the team as M. Coleman, W. Dike and T. Sclater all bowled exceptionally tidy spells and helped take the game away from Puddletown.

A full 20-points for the first time this season, and well deserved, elevates the Devs to 8th of 10, just a point behind Puddletown and well within the middle-cluster of the league.

NB: The scores came from play-cricket, and don't quite match the book, but are very close (will amend when I work out how).
