Match report What a game!! Winning the toss, stand in captain George elected to field. This looked like a good decision when Bournemouth were 29-4 after 9, but a fifth wicket stand of 40 saw Bournemouth rally to 76-5 from 20 overs. T. Perkins (1-9) and Jamie Anderson-Deas (2-13) and two good run outs and great fielding restricting the visitors.
So a low total to chase was the thought, but far from it!! With Stalbridge struggling on 23-3 after 7 overs it was beginning to look a little bit daunting. Tight bowling was holding the innings back and with some of the big hitters back in the dressing, it was a captain innings from George Coleman (25) that steadied the ship and excellent support from the talented Luke McLaughlin (27) that got Stalbridge back on track.
Although to add to the drama, both George and Luke were out in the 16th and 17th over, respectively, still needing 7 to win. Nervy times, but Will Perkins (5 n.o) stepped up and scored the winning runs with 2 balls to spare.
WOW, breath-taking, a tremendous game of cricket played in a great spirit, by both teams. All 22 players who represented their clubs should be very proud of themselves.
Man of the Match went to the whole team, well done boys!
