Match report The first ever competitive match for our Under-7s ended in a nail biting 7 run defeat to Marnhull. All our players were playing their first ever game against a side that featured several players who had U-9 match experience already this season, including two under-9s, and it was probably this game experience the proved the difference.

Batting first, Myles Wall and Gilbert Jeanes got Stalbridge off to a great start, with Myles in particular striking three superb boundaries. Charlie Sclater and Scott Lomas-Walker kept up the momentum, Charlie also hitting some great shots for four. Thomas Lomas-Walker, Louis Parker, Dom Coleman and Oscar Moore all added runs as the team closed on 262-2, the 'low trajectory' of some of the later Marnhull bowling probably helping to slow the run-rate.

All of the Stalbridge lads bowled creditably, as Marnhull edged towards a winning total. Wickets from Myles Wall and, in the final over, Oscar Moore, helped to keep the game tight, though a few too many wides and slightly less fielding experience as a team told in the end as Marnhull finished 7 runs ahead.

It was a great first match for all the players, who enjoyed themselves immensely and will take much from the experience. A good crowd witnessed all the fun on a beautiful summer evening in Marnhull. Can't wait for their next match....
