Match report Stalbridge won the toss and elected to bat. An excellent opening partnership of 99 between Jimmer (34) and Stu (55) got the innings off to a flying start. Stu hitting five 4s and four 6s in his 45 ball knock & Jimmer looking assured after a 2 week absence hitting five 4s and 1 maximum in the 42 balls he faced. Wickets fell quickly with the scorecard going from 99-0 to 110-4, however Eddie (31) and George (54) (being rushed to the crease after needing to snip one off quickly) put on 70 to re-build and steady the innings. Dikey top scored with 62* hitting seven 4s and four 6s in his 46 ball knock and was well supported by Jon (20*) as they put on 76 in the final 7 overs. Shroton got off to a good start making 44 in the first 9 overs before captain run out (5-1-26-1) struck in the 10th over. The spinners were introduced in the 12th over and Dikey (10-1-40-3) struck in his first over bowling their number 3 batsman, Dikey struck again in his 3rd and 4th over taking out 3 of the top 4. The Shroton innings was steadied with a 5th wicket stand of 60 before Jimmer (10-0-30-2) got the breakthrough having their number 5 batsman caught at mid wicket (yes mid wicket NOT mid on) by Dikey. Leggy (10-0-39-2) chipped in with a couple wickets in his second spell for an extra fielding point. 19 points and contributions throughout take us nicely into our penultimate home game of the season against Martinstown next week, 1pm start time.
