Match report
Martinstown won the toss and elected to field. Stalbridge lost Jimmer (0) & Joshy (0) both early on and after 10 overs were 24-2. Eddie (5) & Lewis (9) also fell as the scoreboard reached 49-4 after 16. Seb (17) supported Junior Sweaty who scored his second hundred of the season making a brilliant 113 in a 5th wicket stand of 71. Seb fell caught at mid wicket in the 31st over which brought George to the crease who made a brilliant 40 off 31 balls (including three 4s and two maximums) putting on 76 with Stu in 10 overs. Stu eventually fell in the 45th over, his 113 coming off 114 balls including thirteen 4s. Senior Sweaty and H put on 27 for the 9th wicket before captain run out struck again running out his apprentice & VC off the last ball of the innings. Martinstown's reply started well reaching 29-0 off the first 10 before Lewis (10-1-48-3) struck having their opening bastman caught by the safe hands of Jimmer at gully. Dikey (8-0-39-1) had their number 3 bastman caught & bowled in a crucial breakthrough before H (7-1-33-1) had their number 4 bat LBW for 20. The 4th wicket pair for Martinstown put on 55 before Leggy (9-0-52-1) bowled their opener who hit a well made 55. At this stage Martinstown were 170-3 needing 77 off the final 10 for victory. Their number 5 hit a quick fire 53 which included three 6s in a row to take them to 200-4 off 43. Lewis come back on to pick up 2 wickets in an his first over back and H come back on to bowl tightly from the other end. 1 over short at the top end Andy stood up to bowl with Martinstown needing 13 to win, 3 singles followed by a 6 meant only 4 were needed off the last 2, holding his nerve Andy then bowled a dot (well left outside off) the batsman could only scramble 1 off the final ball before being run out. 19 points and a 7th win of the season move the 1s five points behind the two teams above them with 2 games games left to play. A great game throughout the 100 overs & credit to Martinstown for a great run chase who got 12 points in defeat. Next week the 1s are away at Poole, 1pm start time,
