Stalbridge Cricket Club Lost by 60 runs

Match report The Pirates came up against a very strong Shroton team, and despite some decent batting and bowling (and some less good fielding!) fell to a defeat by 60 runs.

Batting first all our batters hit some good shots, including some fine boundaries, but the regular fall of wickets pegged us back. Scott and Tom put on 17 for the opening pair, while Oscar and debutant Martha took us on to 231. This brought Myles and Gilbert in next, before Louis and Dom came together to take the total up to 257-7. Dom ended up as top scorer with 14-6=8.

Our bowling effort was good, but (a fine catch on the boundary from Gilbert aside) the fielding was a little erratic. Louis in particular bowled very tightly, finishing with 1 for 5 off his two overs.

Well done all, especially Martha (still an u9) in her first hard-ball match. We'll work on the fielding to see if we can draw all aspects together into an all-round performance soon!
