Match report A good game and a decent performance from the Pirates against a strong Blandford side. They've been a little unlucky to play three strong sides one after the other, but wins will come.

Blandford batted first and with several boys who could hit the ball hard had the ability to beat the fielders from time to time. Nonetheless, the boys bowled well and (in contrast to the last game) the fielding was very good too, with diving stops, good throws and backing up as well!

The pick of the bowlers were Alfie and Oscar, taking 2-13 and 2-26 respectively. Blandford finished on a decent 305-4 but it was a good containing effort by our boys against a strong batting order.

In reply we got a bit behind the eight ball with some early run-outs, but after that we made solid progress, as Scott, Alfie, Oscar, Gilbert, Dom and Louis all preserved their wickets and looked to score when they could. We rather lacked the raw hitting power of Blandford, and on a grassy wicket with a grassy outfield, this meant runs were not easy to come by at a rate that would seriously threaten the total.

Dom finished as out top-scorer with 12 as we ended on 247-3, but this defeat doesn't tell the full story of a decent performance with some really pleasing progress.
