Stalbridge Cricket Club Won by 1 run
Match report
Stalbridge won the toss & elected to bat. With no Stu (due to injury) there was a new opening partnership of Josh & Jimmer, they started well & after 10 overs Stalbridge were 41-0. Jimmer passed 50 and the opening partnership passed a 100 in the 25th over, Josh batted well for his 41 hitting seven 4s before being bowled when the score was on 121. George batting at 3 scored quickly with him and Jimmer putting on 85 in 10 overs, Jimmer went on to complete a superb 100 (his first for the 1s) with a 4 through the off side to great applause from his team mates and those watching. He didn't stop there hitting his next 3 balls for 6 but eventually fell for 135 hitting seventeen 4s and five maximums. George made 44 with four 4s and one 6, other double figure scores in the batting come from Si (19) and H (13). Stalbridge finished their innings on 282-6. After an extended lunch break to finish watching Englands QF win against Sweden Dorch begain their innings in the continued sunshine. Si (1-50) opening the bowling down the hill struck in the first over and Leggy (2-48) coming on in the 4th over struck with his 1st ball after a sharp catch by JL at slip. Leggy struck again in the 10th over after a superb boundary catch from George. The next wicket pair for Dorch put on 107 before H had their number 5 well caught by Andy at midwicket, at second drinks (26 overs) Dorchester were 147-4. The Dorch number 4 bastman made 93 before being caught by Jonny off the bowling of Jimmer (1-42). Andy (2-63) returned down the hill with H (2-58) coming back on up the hill and wickets fell in the 41st, 42nd & 43rd over to bring Stalbridge back into the game. At the end of the 44th Dorchester were 249-8. With the frontline bowlers bowled out it was down to Jimmer and Joshy to end the innings, Joshy struck in the 46th with a superb caught and bowled to dismiss their number 6 batsman who made 51. The game went to the last over with Dorch needing 5 to win, Joshy held his nerve superbly and with 2 needed off the last ball a leave shot was played with the batsman looking for a wide, with no wide given Stalbridge won by 1 run and claimed 19 points for their 4th win of the season. An amazing game over 100 overs which included contributions from many, the obvious highlight being Jimmers 135 off 130 balls. Next week the 1s are away to Bere Regis, 1pm start time.
