Match report A first contested toss of the season & Stalbridge elected to bat first. Colin (0) was caught at 1st slip in the 2nd over with the score on 6, Stu (6) was out in the 4th over leaving Stalbridge 9-2. Fordy at number 3 played with good intent hitting 33 off 38 including three 4s and 1 six in a partnership of 39 with George who fell for 6. The score at 11 overs was 41-3. Smiley batting at 5 scored 41 off 93 with six 4s and Jimmer dropping down the order to 6 also scored 41 coming off 63 balls with four 4s and two 6s. After 35 overs Stalbridge were 119-6. Si batting at number 8 top scored with a run a ball 44 with six 4s and one 6, the Stalbridge innings finished on 225 after scores of 19 off 25 for Andy and 9 off 3 for Steve. In reply Sherborne lost a wicket in first over bowled by Stu (10-0-35-1) and 2 in the 4th which was bowled by Si (10-1-37-3), 1 a good catch by Smiley at mid wicket and the other a brilliant take by Jimmer at 1st slip, after 4 overs Sherborne were 16-3. The next Sherborne wicket fell with the score on 48, Steve taking a good catch off the bowling of H (8.4-1-43-1). Si got a further breakthrough in the 23rd over having the Sherborne number 4 batsman caught by Smiley making good ground on the off side, the score at this stage was 86-5. A 44 run partnership for the 6th wicket took the score to 130-6 with Jimmer (7-0-44-1) breaking the stand with Fordy taking a catch on the leg side. The 2 remaining Sherborne batsman saw off the score with Stalbridge failing to take any further wickets, both batting well making 94* and 50* in a partnership of 99. Stalbridge take 8 points in defeat. Next week the 1s are away at Broadstone, 1pm start time.
