Match report Never has a wicket played so differently to its initial appearance! What looked to be a hard, decent track, proved to be anything but, with a real lack of pace and life to it. Fortunately for us, we lost the toss and Hamworthy elected to bat. Steve struck first in the second over, as the batsman practically walked to an LBW which was that plumb! Stu followed that up with an edge that only just carried through to Bushy behind the stumps, and it was 23-3 after 10 overs when Steve bowled the number 4. Si took the next two wickets, one LBW as the batsman played all round a straight one, then clean bowling the number 6. Dikey continued his good run of form with the ball, courtesy of a good catch from George at deep mid-wicket and a sharp one from Si at square leg. H chipped in with one wicket and Jimmer bagged the last two, the last wicket a good stumping from Bushy. The last two wickets had added 29, but we had to be pleased with the final score of 112, despite the fact we knew it would not be an easy chase on that wicket.

So it proved as, after a few early boundaries from Stu, we fell from 25-0 to 26-2 as Stu and George were both bowled. Jimmer dug in alongside Fergus, putting together a crucial partnership of 48 which took us to 74, before Jimmer was run out by a direct hit for 18. Fergus added another 20 with Colin before he was dismissed thanks to a sharp catch in the gully for 33. This was an excellent innings from the youngest member of the team, showing great patience and maturity, exactly what was needed in the match situation. Colin (9) was out with just 5 needed for victory, but Bushy (11*) saw us over the line for a good 20 point victory against a side that had started the day only a point behind us in the league.
