Match report The less said about this one, the better! After a fair amount of morning rain, it was a pleasant surprise to be able to get underway on time.... pleasant until we actually started, that is. Compton House won the toss and decided to bowl. In the face of some good bowling, a slow pitch and even slower outfield which gave us no value for our shots, we wilted. There were some poor dismissals in the innings without doubt, some bad luck as well, as some bad balls were hit straight to fielders, but ultimately this was just a poor team performance where no one got going.

Even the greatest optimist wouldn't have given us much chance, and their wicket keeper chanced his arm (to put it politely) and managed to connect with a few by law of averages, but played and missed at far more. He was well caught at extra cover by Dikey off Ben, and Si took the other wicket, bowling the number 3 off the inside edge, but the other opener Harper batted well for his unbeaten 41, and the runs were duly knocked off in only 17 overs.

A somewhat chastening defeat, especially given our previous run of form, but it had to come to and end at some point. Hopefully this is just a blip and we'll get back on it at Weymouth next week.
