Match report Bottom of the table Beaminster won the toss and elected to bat and although we started much better than the previous week at Marnhull, it took until the 11th over for us to take the first wicket as Stu bowled the opener. Dikey, making a quick and unexpected return to action just three weeks after his finger injury, struck next and continued the fine form he had shown prior to his injury, finishing with 1-21 from his 8. Fordy (2-28) also continued his consistent bowling performances of the previous weeks as Stu took a good catch at extra cover, but even though we were containing the run rate, Beaminster were slowly building a platform with C. Park, the other opener, going well and looking relatively untroubled. Unfortunately for him, this changed when he set off for a single and then turned back, hurting his calf muscle in the process and severely hampering his movement after that. He was able to blast a few more boundaries whilst batting with a runner, before Si came on and bowled him for 36 to leave the score at 81-4 in the 26th over. There were two further wickets for Si (3-25), one for Fordy, and the innings subsided fairly quickly as Stu (4-19) returned to mop up the tail.

The run chase, for once, was fairly straightforward! Josh and Stu added 49 for the first wicket before Josh was excellently stumped down the leg-side from one that flicked his pad for 23. Wiz was then very unlucky to get a shooter second ball just one run later, but Jimmer (23*) and Stu (60*) knocked off the rest of the runs without any trouble to ensure a 20 point victory was secured. The win moves us back up to third in the table but it is all very tight now with Hamworthy just two points behind us.
