Match report A great last day saw a massive victory for the Development XI. Having lost the toss (again) and being set to field, the Stalbridge made short work of the Chesilbourne top-order, with J. Guthri (8-1-21-3) continually chipping away, and some sharp catching by Luke Hedditch, D. Mckinnon and T. Jeans. A really tight opening spell by H. Forshaw (4-0-8-0 & 4-0-15-1) kept the pressure on at the other end and at the 10th Chesil were 30/3. An aggressive spell from H. Lewis (3-0-11-1 & 4-0-24-1) kept the pressure on, while S. Foster (6-0-17-0) tied up the other end with some wily bowling and good shape. Although Chesil rebuilt well in the middle overs - putting on 65 for the 5th wicket - economical and probing spells from O. Moore (8-1-26-1) and I. Mckinnon (3-0-16-0) ensured that when H. Lewis returned for his second spell and broke the partnership, Chesil had scored very slowly. A late wicket for H. Forshaw, superbly caught by R. Dunne, nabbed an extra point for Stalbridge and helped restrict Chesil to a gettable 151.
With bat in hand things got off to a stead start as M. Dunne (8) helped put on an opening stand of 30. The star of the show in the first phase of the chase was, however, R. Dunne (50) - on debut at the third attempt - who made an assured half-century, including some very pretty cover drives and late-cuts to the rope. Ralph departed with the score at 96, thanks to able support from L. Hedditch (41*) who then freed his arms along with T. Jeans (35*) and guided Stalbridge to a much deserved victory with four-overs remaining - including on massive upper-cut six over backward point from Toby.
All in all it was a really successful day to complete what has been a very successful season for the Development XI.
