Match report A spectacular game between the Dev's and the Luke Hedditch Invitational XI (herein, Pub). Stalbridge, having obviously lost the toss, were set to the task of fielding on a drizzly afternoon. With the pre-game pressure clearly effecting him, Rupert fired the first ball wide of the pitch in a manner reminiscent of Harmison. The Dev's settled in after the shakey start and bowled much tighter lines, penning the Pub team back. A dubious no-ball call from professional umpire Rob Payne saw the skipper denied a wicket (which he is not going to forget), but the highlight in the field was when Matt Coleman bowled Dom Coleman in a moment that will surely cause tension later on. More seriously, the Dev XI fielded very well in difficult conditions and did well to keep Pub to 148, including some huge blows from Spicer. A shoutout also to Ed Pattle, who kept wicket exceptionally.

With the bat things just didn't get going, despite excellent knocks from Toby Jeans (25*) and Matt Coleman (25*), as well a lower order rally led by Harry Forshaw (15*). The team seemed to get bogged down in the middle overs thanks to excellent bowling from Pub.

All in all it was a really enjoyable game, played in the right spirit, and ensured that for the first time since July 17th, the Development XI got a full match in. Stalbridge thanks Luke Hedditch for organising his team, and ensuring that we would not miss out on a weekend of cricket. The Development XI are back in league action next week, away to Marnhull.
