Match report On another warm day, we were all grateful the coin came down correctly for us as we chose to bat on a grassy wicket which actually had plenty of bounce and carry. George opened with Stu and soon set about punishing the loose deliveries, of which there were two or three per over. Without too many risks or worrying moments, we eased to 61-0 after ten overs, with a depleted Beaminster team already starting to flag in the heat. George was first to go for 34, caught at cover, with the score on 88. Bushy then joined Stu to add 51 for the second wicket, before he was next out in the 21st over for 13. Stu was finally out in the 29th over for 103 from 87 balls, somehow managing to drag a rank leg-side full toss back on to the stumps; an excellent innings nevertheless. With ten overs left, we were 198-4 and looking to accelerate. Jimmer duly obliged despite wickets beginning to tumble at the other end, as he made a quick-fire 62 off 48 balls, including a couple of big sixes. We lost a little bit of momentum with all the wickets falling in the last ten overs, but were very happy with the 266-9 we finished with.

The Beaminster reply was a non-event, epitomised by the opener's 47 ball duck in 15 overs' worth of batting! Only four bowlers were required, as Stu bowled with good accuracy and hostility, picking up figures of 8-3-6-3, aided by a couple of sharp (if not completely clean!) slip catches by Jimmer and George. Ben Pattle continued his excellent graduation to the first team with 2-13 from 6 overs, one clean bowled and the other a good catch from Jon, diving away to his right. Dikey also nipped in with 3 late wickets, one of which which was a tidy stumping from Jon again, with Steve bagging the captain to start it all off.

A comprehensive victory by 214 runs, rounded off with some superb pizza and beers in the late evening sunshine. We maintain our second position in the league with another maximum point victory.
